The founders, volunteers, and participants of PC-Turnoff are by no means anti-computer. In fact there are lots of us who work with computers for a living, and we have computers in our homes for our kids to use. But we have come to realize that many kids are using computers (in addition to TV, video games and other technologies) for far too long and in ways that create real issues with their well-being.
We support the healthy use of computers. Some of us also created a product called ComputerTime. In the process of developing the software, our research revealed to us that the problems associated with excessive use, or the misuse, of computer technology is of concern to many. We wanted to share this information with concerned parents and encourage more people to make sure that their children are guided towards a healthy balance of activities.
